June20 launched Converge™ in 2017, a technology platform that is changing in-store shopping by adding an interactive digital component that retailers and brands can use to explain complex products, configure design options, discover and compare similar products in a category, or display a range of similar products without sacrificing shelf space.
When customers research products at home with internet searches, they must open a browser, type in the right keywords to find the information they are looking for, and then be willing to go down the “rabbit hole” of the internet. Rather than disrupting the natural shopping experience, Converge™ merges the richness of online with in-store. When a customer moves the tablet in front of a product on display, the consumer automatically gets all of the rich content that could be found online, but with no typing, no searching, no back and forth between multiple products. The experience is designed to integrate seamlessly with the way people naturally like to shop and discover items in-store.
Converge™ is a complete retail display with a tablet locked into a proprietary rail system. As customers slide the tablet in front of items in the display, the tablet’s camera aligns with a product and automatically displays content-rich media, curated specifically for the in-store shopping experience. Customers can see how-to videos, instructions, consumer reviews, product configurations, related products that are only offered online and additional relevant purchase suggestions. Through the proprietary “Send it to me” feature, customers have the option to send the information on the tablet directly to their mobile device through text or email. Or retailers can embed the June20 SDK into their own branded mobile app. The consumer will be automatically recognized when they approach the tablet through a bluetooth beacon, enabling a one-click transfer of information. Either way, customers can make a purchase directly from their mobile phone, schedule a consultation or installation, or take the information home for further evaluation.
Converge™ gives brands and retailers a whole new level of in-store data around customer buying behaviors before, during and after the purchase. The tablet tracks behaviors much like a website does, giving SKU level data, the most searched and viewed content, drop-off points and more.
Converge™ is currently being piloted in a number of leading retail outlets, including the flagship stores of both Home Depot and Sam’s Club. To date, retailers have seen a 3.5 times lift in sales for products using the Converge™ system.
