Maha spots technology trends early and partners closely with her companies to drive growth and exits. She invests in a range of companies with current focus areas in enterprise/cloud and marketplaces. A champion and mentor of women in STEM, Maha is passionate about funding and raising the profiles of female founders and entrepreneurs.

Maha was one of the first investors to recognize the potential of social gaming. She led Canaan’s seed investment in Kabam, the world’s largest developer of multiplayer social games, which was acquired by Netmarble. She is also known for her investments in e-commerce companies The RealReal and Cuyana, on whose boards she serves.

Maha also focuses on investments in data infrastructure and storage with recent investments in Unifi, Komprise and Agile Stacks.

Her previous investments include Metacloud (acquired by Cisco), Virsto (acquired by VMware), and SenSage (acquired by KEYW Corporation).

Maha is a trustee at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a frequent lecturer at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. She holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT.
