As Operations Senior Vice President of Walmart Stores, US, Dacona Smith is responsible for the store operations and strategic focus of Walmart’s West Division, which includes Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii. In this role, his responsibilities include but are not limited to: enhancement of the customer & associate experience, store execution & alignment, talent development, sustainable sales & profit growth, real estate strategy and expansion, competition strategy development, and collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders.
Prior to his current role, Dacona was the Regional Vice President, responsible for store operations in Walmart’s North Texas Region. The regional scope included all Walmart store formats from the Louisiana border to the New Mexico border and approximately 200 miles south of the Oklahoma Border.
Prior to serving as RVP in North Texas, Dacona held roles in the State of Nevada, first as the market leader of Northern Nevada, then as the Regional leader for all Walmart formats in the State.
Dacona started his Walmart career as an hourly associate in 1991 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He was later promoted to Assistant Manager and worked in several stores throughout Texas and Oklahoma. Afterwards, he was promoted to a Food Co Manager and then worked as a Store Manager in four stores in Oklahoma.
Dacona earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration & Marketing from the East Central University and his Master’s in Business from the University of Phoenix.
Dacona is married with four kids. He enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and extended family. His hobbies include fishing, football, reading and many other outdoor activities.
